At substations or cable trench sites, partial discharge signals are often mixed with radio interference and switching operation pulses. If they cannot be distinguished, maintenance personnel may easily misjudge external interference as internal discharge. The PD-5000 partial discharge detector separates discharge pulses from common interference through multi-band sensors and waveform feature analysis, helping on-site personnel determine the discharge type and approximate location. Its detection frequency band covers the 20kHz to 300kHz acoustic frequency range, and an optional UHF sensor is available, making it suitable for live detection of GIS, transformers, switchgear, and other equipment.
Traditional methods mostly rely on a single ultrasonic or transient earth voltage probe, and data must be recorded manually and compared afterward. The PD-5000 provides RS-232 and RS-485 communication interfaces, can connect to a computer to print record charts and curves, and also supports uploading parameters such as discharge amplitude, phase, and count to a backend system. During on-site use, the instrument is powered by a built-in battery, requiring no external power supply, which facilitates mobile operation in switch rooms, cable floors, and other locations. Compared with instruments that measure only a single parameter, this model can simultaneously connect acoustic and UHF signals, reducing repeated wiring.
Detection frequency band: acoustic 20kHz–300kHz; UHF 300MHz–1.5GHz (optional). Discharge voltage range: adapted according to different sensors. Communication interfaces: RS-232, RS-485. Power supply: built-in rechargeable battery. Operating temperature: -10℃ to 50℃. Storage capacity: can save no fewer than 1,000 sets of detection records. Display mode: color LCD screen, supporting simultaneous display of waveforms and values.
After powering on, select the sensor type, place the probe close to the surface of the equipment being tested, or place the UHF sensor near the basin insulator. The instrument automatically collects background noise and then displays the discharge amplitude and phase spectrum. If an abnormality is found, press the "Record" key to save the current waveform and export it through the communication interface. For bays requiring continuous monitoring, timed acquisition can be set, with intervals adjustable from 1 second to 1 hour. Daily maintenance only requires keeping the probe clean and charging it regularly.
Suitable for live partial discharge detection and short-term online monitoring of GIS, transformers, switchgear, cable terminations, and other equipment at voltage levels from 10kV to 500kV. Not suitable for quantitative calibration of discharge magnitude during equipment withstand voltage tests.
