Winding Deformation Tester Full Name Transformer Winding Deformation Tester
It is the "CT scanner" used in the power system to diagnose the internal mechanical health of transformers.
If the switch characteristic tester we discussed earlier is for checking the "joint flexibility" of circuit breakers, then the winding deformation tester is like performing a precise "bone X-ray examination" on the core component of the transformer—the winding (coil). Its core task is to determine whether the internal copper winding has undergone distortion, displacement, or bulging after the transformer suffers short-circuit impacts or transportation collisions.
⚙️ Core Uses and Importance
During operation, transformers inevitably encounter strong electrodynamic impacts from outlet short circuits, near-area short circuits, or bumps and collisions during transportation. These external forces can easily cause permanent mechanical deformation (such as local distortion, bulging, displacement, inter-turn short circuits, etc.) of the internal windings, which is invisible to the naked eye.
Core Function: Such deformation seriously threatens the insulation safety of the transformer and is a hidden danger that can lead to major accidents such as transformer explosions. The winding deformation tester can accurately determine whether the internal winding is damaged and the severity of the damage without lifting the cover or disassembling the transformer.
Wide Application: Widely used in factory tests, acceptance tests, preventive tests, and post-accident fault diagnosis for power transformers with voltage levels from 66kV to 500kV and above.
